Tailgate handle broken help!

Alright so i broke my tailgate handle the other day....it was locked and i was in a hurry and went to open it yanked and SNAP. its not broken off, just the mechanism doesnt work

and its really not a BIG thing on my to do list except for the fact i just bought some black LED tail lights and need to lower the tailgate to get access to the bolts to remove my current tail lights and install my new ones......WHAT CAN I DO

if you truely have no little piece to grab and open the gate you can pull teh cover off the inside of the tailgate and access the handle mechanism.

Just like rusty said pretty easy and while in there it can be lubed.

Yea,

Take off the plate on inside of tailgate & lube up mechanism parts. I used to do it every couple of years or when it felt like it was too tight..
