engine swap question

I don't post much, sorry if I am asking a dumb question but . . . Would someone tell me what year trucks I can bolt a 428 in. I acquired a nice 428 and want to put it in front of a C6 in a pick up. More specifically, will it bolt into a 1977 F-150? . . . F-250? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

the 428 is a FE engine. mostly in the 77-79 trucks you see the 335/385 series engines. diffrent bolt patterns and diffrent motor mounts. in the 73-76 the 428 should bolt right in because those earlier trucks are FE engines. same bell housing, motormounts. buuuutttt, you can do anything to these trucks that you could imagine if you dont mind swapping a few parts here and there. just my $.03

Yes, The 428 will bolt right into a '73-'79 with factory parts.
The C6 will have to be one with an FE bolt patern because the 429/460 C6 pattern is different.
You will need mount supports (perches) for an FE truck which can come from any Fseries from around 1966-79 and shouldn't be hard to find.
Someone in a past thread said the I6 supports are the same but you have to swap them side to side to use with a FE engine, however I don't know this for sure & never tried it-may be others will chime in and clairify.....

Thanks guys, starting to feel less stressed. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has installed a 428 in a 77 F-150 4X4 . . . . would be great to have a heads up for the parts I'll need to start looking for.

we put one in my freinds 75 150 it had an old tired 360 inn it when he got it... the parts list is as follows: if you truck has a 360-390 in it this will be so much simpliar..
you'll need the Motor, c6 auto from 360/390 family, will need be married unit, you can reuse t-case and drivelins, the motor towers and mounts from the same 360/390 donor motor.. all the linkage and electrical is the same... as long as you had a large v8 radiator 351-400, 360-390, 429-460 will cool that 428 just fine. one more thing if the motor is from a car you need a 360/390 4X4oil pan.. These parts are all availible in 67-76/77 f-100 and f150 4X4s when ford fazed the FE motors out to the 351-400 motors.. remember the older 4X4s weren't power steering so you may need to source a newer ps set from a 390 if your 428 doesn't have it...
if you have a stick in your truck it complicates things and i can still help you with the parts list for that too. any other questions hit me back and i'll fill you in..
