My truck has been coding since about 3000 miles with two error codes which point to the def system primarily a heater problem. The codes are
P20BE and P20BD. I can reset but they show back up. The dealer has replaced some parts but the problem still exists.
They are contacting Ford for advice. I think the DEF heater has a problem.
The truck runs great and this is the only problem so far.
Those codes usually get thrown related to wiring/electrical connection issue with the DEF heater. If the wiring is good then it could be a bad glow plug control module.
Wiring is always a possibility, but the first two things that should be looked at are the line heater and the pump heater. This is done by measuring the resistance of the line heater which should be between 3 - 5 Ohm. If it fails, replace and check for DTC's. If OK move on to the pump heater assembly which should be between 2.5 - 6 Ohm. If it fails, replace and check for DTC's.
Now if both the line heater and pump heater assembly Ohm out OK, then it is time to move on to the wiring...
