The ultimate convenience. With the newest Ford remote start system, there’s no need to see the vehicle to know it has started. Simply press the start button: When the engine is up and running, the button flashes green and the key fob beeps to confirm. This system can start/stop the engine from up to 1,000 ft. (distance may vary depending on location and environment). It also features Panic and Car Find functions. Includes one bi-directional key fob. Dealer installation recommended. NOTE: Remote Start Hood Switch Kit (BC3Z-19G366-A) required if your truck is not equipped with a factory-installed hood switch.
I have the remote start but like this control. My Wife's Volvo key will let you know if the doors are locked, someone is inside of the vehicle yadi yadi. Nice feature.
Does Ford offer instructions that we could possibly find because I really don't want to pay labor if I can plug and play myself. (Yes, I do see your recommendation.)

as far as I know you can install yourself, but the function has to be turned on using the IDS. so even if you install yourself you still have to take to the dealership or a shop that can reprogram the trucks computer.
Not sure if a AE could do it or not.
I have a pdf file, just not sure how to upload it here or how to maybe attach it to a link to my web page.

My wifes XC does this as well, but I doubt she would ever know you to use it......

Thanks to both of you for the info and the warning about needing the IDS.
I'll see if I end up buying a new gun or toys for my truck...haha.
Oh, should of payed attention. I placed the order, but I dont know if I have a hood switch or not? I have a Lariat 250 if that helps. Has anybody installed this system yet? Im kinda worried about getting the dealer to program the IDS.

Okay, you have me confused... Is this device to extend the range of the existing remote start system or to give a truck without remote start the capability? I thought it was the former, but after reading the instructions PowerstrokeHD provided (thank you), it looks more like a remote start for a vehicle without (hence the reason to go to the the dealership to have the IDS updated to turn on the remote start feature).
If it can be used in conjunction with my existing remote start to extend the range, I'm interested.

Are you on the road with your truck?? I thought you were driving it back today.
I believe (waiting for partsguyed to reply), that this is for trucks that do not have the factory installed remote start system. The hood switch is integrated into the remote start system to prevent the truck from remote starting with the hood open. If you don't have remote start, you most likely will need to order it.
I am not sure how Ford handles these kind of options when they build their vehicles. We all know that Ford installs the block heater on the engine, but only when you pay for the option do you get the power cord. I would run out and take a picture of my hood switch for you to compare, but the truck is in for paint protection installation.
This is a bi-directional system which can be used on trucks that already have remote start installed from the factory or it can be added on to a truck that does not have it. In a case such as yours where you already have the factory remote start all you would have to do is install the additional remote start module, bi-directional antenna and separate key fob from the kit. You would not need to have the dealer activate the programmable parameter as it is already on for you.
PSHD,
Can you provide the part number / order info, etc. To get this additional feature, for a unit that already has remote start. I am basically at the distant limit of remote start. Works once in a while, no way of knowing...
I have a window at work (3rd fl), where I can see my unit... but, can't tell if it starts.... iffy at best... It is a good distant away.
