the beeping will not work. Dealer checked it out and said it was all hooked up well. Can you help me out ED? Let me know what I need to do to possibly try another box? Thanks.
absolutely!
pm me your info and i'll take care of this situation
Just an update on performance. Been making a sport out of seeing how far out I can remote start my truck. I have been taking my range finder with me everywhere I go and parking out in the tundra. I can comfortably start the truck from 600 to 800 feet out. Shortest distance to "no start" was 550 feet. Wasn't line of site (trees in the way).
Longest distance to successful start 1055 feet! I suspect as the battery gets tired things will shorten up a bit, but at this point, am very impressed with the unit.

Glad yours is working great. Would you have any idea as to what is wrong with mine? The truck will start with the remote, but there is only a green flash after I push the button twice. I never have heard a beep, or the green light will not illuminate after 3 seconds intervals? Its almost like the transmission is one way. Did you have to go to your dealer to get the remote start switched from the factory one to this 2-way? Also, is there a way to misconnect the harness? I've double checked, but did not know if two plugs would fit the same module?
PartsGuyEd has been more than helpful to me, but I want to identify the problem before i go changing things that are not the problem. I think its a bad remote?

Reason: Did not make sense.

It does sound like your's is working in one direction. Did your truck come with the factory remote start? If you had the factory remote start, you don't need to go to the dealer. The dealer is only needed to activate the "remote start" feature of the truck on trucks that did not have it to start with. All that was needed done on the trucks with factory remote start was to install the control box from the kit to the TPM unit (I would check this connection. It is keyed but you may not have it in all the way). It is the one below my finger
You also do not need to remove the antennae cable from the TPM. It goes to the factory installed antennae (the one in the glovebox). This connection on the TPM is the connector below my finger and to the left of the big connector. It will be open if the factory remote start was not purchased. You would also need to install the long antennae in the glove box because it won't be there.
The control box should only have two connections. The antennae connection for the glass mounted unit and the cable going to the TPM. This picture shows the control box with the antennae connection before I mounted it on the glass.
From what you are describing, it sounds like the control box or fob is bad. The only programming I needed to do was to get the panic alarm to work on the new fob. That procedure worked as advertised from the installation manual.
If you do NOT have factory remote start, you would need install everything in the kit Ed sold you. As well, you would need to go to the dealer to have IDS (I think that is what is called) activated. This gives you the LCD or display menu items to activate remote start and for the timer.
Thanks. I have looked over everything 14 times and have come to the conclusion the box or fob is bad. Just like you thought. Mine did not come from the factory with remote start, so I had to install it all, then go to the dealer for turning it on. Ed is going to send a new box my way and see if that fixes my problem. I'm also installing factory nav that I bought from Ed as well. I'm all jazzed up about that install. In fact when I call to get the replacement box I'm going to ask for overnight shipping on the nav. I'm a gotta have it now kind of guy. Thanks marauder for the great post trying to help. I'll let you know what I find.

You're welcome! Ed should send you an entire kit and that way you can trouble shoot it once and for all. You could also have a bad bidirectional antennae and the cable could be bad as well. Less likely but still a possibility. I suspect you will need to replace the control box and key fob together since they are probably programmed to each other now. Not sure how you go about reprogramming so the unit knows that you have different combinations.
Good luck on the Nav unit. Hopefully the factory harnesses will be there. The interconnectivity between the steering wheel controls and the radio are a big part of it. If they are pre-installed it will be just a plug and go thing. If not, running those will be challenging.

did you resolve your remote start issue? I'm having a similar issue with mine.
No. I switched out the whole unit and it still did the same thing. So I just abandoned the project. It's either the programming the dealer is doing is wrong or the thing won't work with some trucks. Did yours have remote start to begin with? I did not.
No mine did not have it from the factory. The red light works but the green doen't and no beep. Some times the heater fan is on and others it isn't, I don't know if outside temp has anything to do with that or not. Only had it for a few days now, still trying to figure it all out
Same situation...... Odd. Kinda defeats the purpose when you can't get feedback on if your truck started a half mile away or not. Let me know if you find a solution.

I think i figured mine out , I needed to lock the doors with the lock button on the key and then i get feedback on the remote. Before i was always using the key pad on the door. I've only started it twice this way but so far so good. Hope this helps

Something is not right. The extended distance remote will lock your truck for you in case it isn't locked already. If you need to use your existing key fob to lock it before you start it, doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of buying the extended distance remote?
It sounds to me that something is still not programmed correctly. I wonder if rdenis is following this thread...

I think your correct, it only worked twice like that and now I'm back to no feed back, but it still starts so it isn't a big deal it just gives me something to scratch my head trying to figure it out
