[B] I get more fun out of the torque she has getting up to 75 - 85. I can go from 75 to 85 in around 5 seconds - I'll time it closer next time I do it."
Today, 65 to 75 in 5 seconds, it was too busy for 75-85. I'm guessin' maybe 6.

Good luck yourself. A 400+ hp truck can barely manage 140. Doing it with a box-like 82 will take considerably more.---------------------- silver
all right i got a few things i have to say ,,, silver I guess all you know is I6 engines ( not alot but some),,, because one thing you don't need 400hp to make it to 140, OK i know a 1990 350 chevy, and yes it does have a lot of mods but his HP is no where close to 400, but he has been out to the track and he has blown past 156 in his chevy, and yes i was there to see it, that proves you don't need 400hp to barley make it to 140mph,,,,and i guess my truck was clocked at 103 by the state HIPO , here in nocona, texas ,,,,and i know i had more power left, and the HIPO name is Don koonts, if you ever run in to him ask him since it took him about 10 mins to catch up to me, if i was doing 103+
I wouldn't consider the 300 one of my best subjects, but since mine seems to run about 2-3 seconds quicker than most in the 1/4 mile with a stock 250k mile long block I probably know something about its performance capabilities. I never said I was the 300 expert, but I am one of few that have modified the EFI 300.
because one thing you don't need 400hp to make it to 140,
I see you have just registered in the last few days, so obviously you aren't familiar with the other vehicles I drive. One is a 2001 Lightning, which is factory underrated at 380 HP, that I race on any track I can find. Road coarse, drag strip, whatever. In stock form it made 349 hp and 424 ft-lbs at the wheels, which is about 420-430 hp at the crank. A stock 03 Lightning (only the wheels and trim are diffferent than mine) just set a world record for worlds fastest production pickup with a speed in the 147 mph range. Based on that I would say 400 hp for 140 is in the ballpark. If you'd like I can cut and paste the press release into the thread, but it's a little long. At least it's a reference, which is something I have yet to see in this thread.
OK i know a 1990 350 chevy, and yes it does have a lot of mods but his HP is no where close to 400, but he has been out to the track and he has blown past 156 in his chevy,
Which track? There isn't a closed course in the country where a street truck is going to go that fast, especially not an underpowered one. Do you have a list of mods on that Chevy, or is a generic "a lot of mods" the best we can hope for?
and yes i was there to see it,
You were where? Be specific. If it was a sanctioned event there will be a record of his speed in their records.
that proves you don't need 400hp to barley make it to 140mph,,,,
That proves nothing except that you can type the sentence.
and i guess my truck was clocked at 103 by the state HIPO , here in nocona, texas ,,,,and i know i had more power left, and the HIPO name is Don koonts, if you ever run in to him ask him since it took him about 10 mins to catch up to me, if i was doing 103+
What does this have to do with anything? Maybe since you either didn't read or didn't comprehend the entire thread, here's what I have stated, and a few things I am adding now:
1. A stock EFI 300 will not do 120+
2. Even if it had the power to do 120+ it couldn't do it because of the speedlimiter. I have not found any Ford documentation about the speedlimiter, but it seems to be 96 mph on the 91 and earlier trucks and 110 on the 92-96 trucks.
3. Speeds in the 100-105 range are believable, although unattainable in trucks with a speedlimiter of 96.
4. Carbed trucks are probably faster on the top end than EFI trucks.
5. Carbed trucks can easily be modified to go faster; more power is only a few bolt ons away. However, we are talking about stock trucks.
6. Of all the people in the thread that say they have bypassed the speedlimiter there still isn't a single one that has said how they did it.

I wanted to buy it so freekin bad, but wasn't my kind of project. I like to do my own.Anyway. I challenge any one of you to prove SS wrong. Show some kind of indesputable evidence that your stock EFI rig would go 120. Hell, show any evidence that ANY EFI 300 would go 120, and yes, I know they can be made to, but not ONE of these idiots has one. I know neither of my previously owned 300's would. And my old man's 96 won't.
anyway, i would also like to see proof of doing 120+ MPH. i know for a fact i can get it up to about 90 (at least thats what the things that check ur speed on the side of the road before a construction site said). i know SS isnt always 100% correct but 98% of the time he is and i would like to see u prove him and everyone else who disagrees wrong.
