I have a 2000 7.3psd f350 148000 miles. This morning I cranked my truck for about 10 seconds and it would not start, I waited and cranked it again and it still would not start. Then on the 3rd attempt it started. Alot of white smoke came out. The temperature was about 30 degrees I am in Florida. After driving it for 10 minutes it restarted fine. Any ideas why it would not start properly the first time would be appreciated. I would like to fix a future problem. thanks Ron
I would agree with Miller_feed. For ~$30 from Napa, I would get a GPR-109 solenoid and just replace it. With the weather you have down there, not much use for one except when you get the rare freeze. They do go bad anyway.
A simple solution is to use the AIH relay for the glow plugs. It is the solenoid just to the south of the GPR (as your looking at the top of the engine.) You can delete the AIH and never use it agian, as it really isn't needed where your at.
