Got an email from Navteq about the new version of maps. Ordered the DVD and received it last week. Its labeled "FLM Navigation System/North America/Map Release 9P". I have been through the F-150 Owners Manual and the Sync Navigation manual, but there is no mention of how to install the new version. I sent an email to Navteq, but they said that they don't support the navigation hardware and that I'll have to go to the dealer.
If I remember correctly, in the menu is an eject button (space on touch screen). Don't remember if face flips down or not but there is a dvd behind the screen. I have a 2008.
Thanks for the reply, but there is no eject button on any of the screens. I have been through every screen so many times. My 2009 Shelby has the flip-down faceplate, but I'm 99% sure the nav system in this truck doesn't work that way. Still can't believe there is no reference at all in the manuals about how to do this!
on screen, push menu, then push system info tab and at bottom right is the phrase "access navigation cd" push this area and the process should begin. Didn't follow through this morning, too cold, but I believe the screen will fold down and reveal the slot for map cd/dvd behind it, just need to eject old and insert new. May have to do a few things to initialize the new cd---don't remember.
I know the screen you are talking about, and that's the one on the 2007-2009 models. That's the same system I have in the Shelby. The 2010 navigation system is completely different. Guess I'm going to have to call my service rep at the Ford dealer.
Would you mind me fetting the info for the Nav upgrade part #. I have a 2011 F 150 and wanted to be sure I have the latest.I guess I could call and not be a bother to you.
Thanks
Chuck

Note this in the FAQs:
I want to purchase a map update for my Navigation System online or over the phone and am told I need to have my system’s Application Number. What is this Application Number?
Answer: The Application Number is an 8-digit alpha-numeric code that serves as a unique identifier for your Ford, Lincoln or Mercury Navigation System. You need to provide this at the time of purchase in order for us to issue a license key that will be used to perform the map update process.
This means you cannot install the DVDs and then sell them to someone else.
