Need a little insight. The truck starts ok, runs good, and accelarates fine. The only thing I have going on is some major vibration and humming noises at idle. I though maybe it was the power steering pump, but I can't see how that would make the whole engine vibrate. This vibration clears up as soon as you give it a little pedal, or flip on the high idle, and this all started about two weeks ago. I've tried searching for some info, but everything I found doesn't really seem to fit. Oil was changed back in November. Fuel filters have about 4000 on them.
Did you ever solve this issue? I am getting something similar in my 06, vibrates at idle, as soon as you increase RPM it disappears. Had it to the ford dealter 3 times now. they did do head gaskets and ever since they put the cab and all the stuff back it has been there. Drives me nuts!
They have just replaced the FICM, I am bout to got pick it up and see if it is solved. They say they have compared to another and it runs the same. But I know it didn't, so maybe they have fixed it now.
Any insight or a solutions know would be greatly appreciated, I will post if the FICM solved it or not.

Okay so picked truck up and then turn around and dropped if off again! Still having the vibration issue at idle I don't see how the Ford shop foreman can say that is a normal idle condition. I tried to look to see if the turbo was shaking or anything like that, but it was dark but it didn't look like it.
I also tried to find a 6.0 F350 with decent milleage on their lot to compare it too, but they didn't have any for me to observe idling, I am 100% sure it was not like this when it went in. This is turning into a nightmare scenario.

I have not yet solved this issue. The weather hasn;t been al that condusive to working on the truck. I am starting to suspect the turbo, but am not entirely sure. I need to pull the intake hose of the turbo, and see what kind of play I have on the shaft. This all really seems to have started once I went to 5w-40 synthetic for the winter. I can also here the turbo spooling down after shutdown, and is almost has a grinding noise to it. I will updat once I find anything.
Ok I know this thread it is from a while ago but I just came across it while searching for something else and figured I should chime in about a similar issue.
I noticed a vibration when my truck idled. I also noticed the vibration seem to change when turning, breaking, etc. The vibration also went away when I accelerated. Anyway after poking around the engine I was stumped. I got under the truck and BINGO I was close. So I continued poking around and I found it. It was one of the rubber bushings on the exhaust hangers. Apparently at a certain rpm "harmonics" or whatever were causing this annoying vibration noise. My solution was to move the bushing to a different position on the metal hanger and the vibration was gone. Of course after driving a while it moved back, but I don't really care anymore since I know the noise is nothing to worry about.
Not sure if this was your issue but could be something to think about. Just wanted to share, hopefully it helps someone in their search for an annoying vibration...

Thanks for the post. I will have to crawl under and see what I can find....
did you ever get this issue fixed, my 05 just started this same exact thing over the weekend
I ended up searching the site some more. I ended up loosening the clamps that hold the down pipe in place, wiggled it around some and retorqued the clamps. Problem solved. Do a search on down pipe vibration. IIIRC you have to warm up your engine before doing this so be careful not to get burned.

Reason: wrong term
I did some major work over labor day weekend, and the noise, and vibration are gone. I changed out my STC fitting, did the stand pipes, and dummy plugs, replaced an injector, and cut out the "scoop" in the up-pipe. The one thing I did find while in there, and I don't know if this caused any problems, but one on the turbo hold down bolts was loose. Other than that I don't know what to say.
