Tis on the list of things to do today... I'm thinking those, with the clear style headlights like on the white truck earlier (the ones with the inner cut off shield so I can go HID later) and using the nite shades paint to give a VERY LIGHT smoke to it all.

I like the looks of the white Lightning with the clear frosted lights and crystal headlights.
That little cut off shield is not for HID. The headlight housing is not designed for HID at all. The optics are incorrect for it. It produces excessive glare to oncomming drivers and is illegal everywhere. Please do not be another one on the road with that annoying stuff. To convert to HID the right way you need projection headlight housings.
I wouldn't do the nite shades, it won't look as clear as it does new. It will also make the lights dimmer. I don't think anyone wants dimmer headlights.
Theres more to doing the HID than just throwing a kit in the housing, with the inner shield and some customizing, the cutoff line will be there... trust me when I get done, it will not have the glare. As for the smoke, I'm talking 1, maybe 2 coats MAX, just enough to give it some tint on the lens when its daylight and the lights are off. Until I get the HID setup ready to go, I will use some European Halogen bulbs I have on the shelf right now.. 80w lo/ 100w high and see how they do. If they don't blind people I may even just stick with them.
Ward, when you do the 80w 100w make sure you upgrade your sockets. And add a set of relays and separate harness for them.
I did that to my pickup with the stock housings, HOLY CRAP did it make a HUGE difference! But, the 80/100 bulbs burn out fast had a high burn out in a month, and a low in 3 months. But I work nights and drive 50 miles a day so the lights get used a lot. Lol

When you do your HID conversion, post it up. I have the drop in bulbs right now (I know, not the greatest). I have them aimed low enough that they aren't overly glaring to oncoming drivers. I've looked into doing projectors into the clear housings, but don't have the cash right now for it.

Any pictures of the 80/100w bulbs compared to the stock 55w? I didn't realize they make such high wattage bulbs. It's an option I'd be interested in pursuing until I get the money to do a projector conversion.

Side by side they look pretty much identical to the stockers. You can get them in colors too. But you can't rin some of them on the streets.
I first got turned onto the 80/100's back in 94 when I met a guy who had flew his Harley over here for a "holiday"... he gave me one for my bike and I have used them ever since, man they do make a difference. And I have always like using a relay for the headlights, even on stock 45/65's having a good clean power supply makes a big difference!!
As for the HID, these lights here have a very distinctive cutoff line on the light. I know this from installing them on my Expedition. If you look at the way the bulb cover is mounted, it blocks light from bouncing off the lower part of the light, which is what reflects at a upward angle and cause excess glare.
As for the HIDs ive had mine for almost 2 years now and have never been flashed or pulled over. Not blinding at all. My cutoff is really good. I got a pic somewhere. Gotta find it.

That housing is still designed for Halogen. It is not for HID. The stock housing has the cover over the bulb too. It will produce excess glare with HID, because the bulb is not the same.

It still glares, but maybe not as bad as actual high beam halogen. I see them every day. I don't flash people because its pointless since they can't dim them down.
After 20 years running long haul, I can assure you I have been blinded more times than I care to remember, and I have no intention of putting that kind of glare out myself... I've got some tricks to try out, and if they work the way they should it will be just right, and once I verify them I will share them.
