Dave, I seem to remember you lambasting me in an email,when I informed you of the charade almost 2 years ago.In fact,you said you knew both Dan and Julie, and you ardently defended "her" as being who she said she was .I was made aware by one of the long-time members early-on, and it's water under the bridge now.But I'm glad I wasn't one of the guys tripping over themselves to chat and flirt with a 50+ year old man,that WOULD have been embarrassing.

If I were to compile a list of the funniest things that have came thru this thread, the top of the list would be ibuzzard 's avatar! Every time that shows up I crack up! Some of the creative names for the "unmentioned" weren't bad as well!

This thread reminds me of The Friv because of it's sheer randomness.

So, I just thought I'd mention that I like bacon on my PB&J sandwiches.

This one has a long ways to go, but keep at it and might set a record.
I was referring to the only board on FTE worth visiting on a daily basis.

Say what you want but she'll always be Julie to me. She may be gone but I'll always have the memories.
PS - I never did like Uncle Jim!

I don't recall a Maria Muldaur version of "Horse with No Name," the only one I'm familiar with was done by America.

A Horse with No Name - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maria's big hit, that I remember, was "Midnight at the Oasis". Send your camel to bed. That has a bit of a desert connotation.

Steely Dan, I can't think of any desert songs. Most of theirs have more to do with being very wet. From too many frosty beverages.

Yep, I remember that. At the time I had my reasons. Like many others I thought he got a raw deal at the time and I also thought the forces that came to bear on him at the time deserved the ruse. Unfortunately it all got way out of hand. What could have been a well played prank turned into something else actually. So, I will apologize to you for the undeserved lambasting. I figured everybody would figure it out soon enough and he could drop the charade. I also suggested that to him several times and I pointed out that it would all come undone for him. The part that I didn't figure on was that he was able to make it work for two years. I was also prepared from the get go to come clean in a few months after he had his fun. Well, it didn't work that way. It's almost like he fully assumed that second persona. After so long I just stepped away from it all. If you check my posts you will notice that I stayed away from this particular forum on the FTE. I actually felt sort of bad about people buying into the charade and going Ga Ga over Julie. From what little I did read that happened a lot.

I really believe that if he had played it out for a few months and then transitionally came clean all would have been forgiven and we could have all had a big laugh over it. That was not to be. Instead he played and lived the part to the hilt with what seemed like no end in sight. Obviously his nature eventually caught up with him and he ended up in the same fix. That is why I was curious as to what did him in this time. I defended him once but I doubt I could do it again even if I knew the actual events that led to his being banned.

In one way this whole thread has been a fun fest but there is also a very sad side to it. Yeah, a lot of people are taking shots now and I have to think part of that is retribution for being tricked. They may not now admit it because they are embarrassed, but looking back, the evidence is there. Aside from that, there is another issue here and that is the way he probably feels now. I would have to think he is anything but happy or proud. Would you want to be in his shoes? I know I wouldn't.

Later Man...

Which is probably why I had this epiphany;

The reason this thread is so enjoyable is because it has no topic!
It was America. Maria Muldaur sang "Midnight at the oasis."
