egt gauge ?

Installing an egt gauge on left manifold and was wondering what the parameters are. the gauge has the ability to set a low warning as well as a high warning. truck is a 2006 f-350 6.0L which is bone stock with a volant ram air intake. pulling a 13000 lb fith wheel and just want the ability to monitor temp. just unsure of what it should read

I wouldn't worry about a LOW temp, set warning for high at or about 1200-1250. I'd start worrying about 1300.

if he is installing it on the manifold i would say set it around 1500-1600 now if its behind the turbo i would say about 1200. cuz i run a programmer and i can hit 1200 all day long if im in it. 1600 is where you start to damage your turbo so thats why i would say 1500 or so but since your runnin stock i dont see it ever getting that high unless something is wrong

Thanks guys. appreciate all the info. it is installed right before the turbo's up pipe so sounds like i set it for 1200 to be safe. any other things i should be concerned about when working the truck temp areas or gauge wise?

I wouldn't worry to much about anything else except your coolant temp but gauge wise your good. And you have the egt probe in a good spot!

gauge wise, you should consider getting a fuel pressure gauge (never go below 45psi), an ECT, and EOT. As far as EGT go the genneral consinsus around here is you don't want to be more than 1400* for an extended amount of time. For no more than say 1/4 mile sprint or more at a time. Really if mine was staying at 1200* or more for very long I would be worried. Other things you should be concerned with is that AM airfilter you have on there. They are known to cause problems with the 6.0, and there are no benefits (other than "bling") for your truck.
