Is it worth the extra $150 to upgrade my paddle mirrors to the turn signal towing mirrors or should I just save the money and go with the ones w/o the turn signals and heat?
Whatever you decide to do is up to you, after all it's your truck. Do what you feel will make the happiest. I will tell you that my 01 came with the little sport mirrors. I bought the OEM tow mirror kit for my year. When I bought the new mirrors I didn't put a lot of thought into it. If I could go back and do it over, I would have bought the heated mirrors with the turn signals. Splicing in the blinkers, and hard wiring the heat to a toggle switch would have been pretty easy. Good luck.
That is where I am stuck right now I want the turn signals if I had unlimited money, but I think the extra $150 might be worth spending on other upgrades. Thanks for the advice Brian.
Here's something else to think about...the amber section of the turn signals on the towing mirrors tend to get whacked. The mirror covers without the turn signals looks to be a tougher grade of plastic and I think they will stand up to a whack or two. I'm on my second amber section on my drivers side and it got whacked a couple of months ago by some guy in a van driving on my side of the centerline...I pulled over but he kept driving and I've still not found the jerk.
The problem is that Ford (nor anybody else that I can find) doesn't sell just that amber section. I've had to buy a whole new mirror cover and since mine is a King Ranch, it's match painted...which is more cost to you. I now have a painted to match spare mirror cover...without the amber lens. Oh yeah, Ford doesn't sell the mirror covers cheap either.
Personally, I like the turn signals in the mirrors but I'm not crazy about keeping the mirror cover production facility in business.
I like my telescoping mirrors w/o the turn signal light or heat. They are in fact very durable... I have a couple a DEEP gouges in them that would have probably shattered the signal lens. Good luck and I am sure you will love whatever you decide on.

If you live somewhere cold and snowy (don't know where geneva is, im guessing its not geneva switzerland....) i think heated mirrors are worth the cost.

I replaced my mirror cover a few weeks ago. I had to buy the cover ($140 to my door). Anyway, the light module just snaps in the cover and was also told the module is not sold separately. So, next time, I visit a junk yard...
I never thought about the durability factor but that makes good sense, especially when I am well known for running into things. To respond to Gunnerdog I'm actually in Illinois so yes I hear your pain about the snow. Hmmm so many things to think about.
Hey thanks nice find. Now I have even more things to try and decide from. haha
BTW our trucks look almost identical except that I have the crew cab and don't have cab clearance lights yet.
The heated option IMO can't be beat. The only drawback is when you wash the truck. If you don't dry the mirrors off, you will get waterspots as the mirror will heat up and dry the water creating the waterspots.
