hi,
need some info. i got a 1979 f250. i been thinking about getting a 1996( or anything newer)f250 and putting my 79" body on the 96" frame/drivetrain. i got a rotted frame on my79" and i thought the new frame with updated FI motor/trans/transfer case would be nice. i was wondering if anyone has did this.. i dont have access to a newer year truck to take measurements. i tryed to do a search but came up empty.
they are basically the same, the rad support mounts are different, there is a guy locally here with one,he switched a 2wd body onto a 95 F150 frame.the wheel base is the same 133 (reg cab long box) if thats what you have. There is nothing wrong with the trans/case on the newer trucks. They are not an NP205 but they aren't 30+years old and worn completly out either.and you can get one with the ZF 5spd which is an excellant tranny.I would say go for it if you can get a frame and yours is toast.I know the guy locally who did his swap,I can ask him any questions you need answers for.
