The weird noise that I was having under load was a loose clamp. I have had the intercooler rubber hoses loosen up before. The clamp that was leaking was tight, but since the crankase vent was pumping oil in the intake(I put the breather hose vent on), I could see a little bit of leakage. Tightened the clamp and no more noise. The truck is my wife's and she wants an automatic trans now. It is a 97 super cab F 250 4X4, white exterior. She bought it new and it has 92K on the truck and 33K on a long block installed at a dealer. It has a warn winch built into the front bumper and a 20K renell rear bumper. She only uses it to pull her horse trailer and sits in a storage building most of the time, the paint is perfect. Any idea what it is worth?
The engine got replaced because she had a piece of **** BD engine brake installed and a valve hit a piston. It was before I came along. A real sad story neither BD, Ford or the place that installed would make it right. It cost her 10K to get fixed! We live near Sacramento CA. She wants a newer truck, but anything after 2006 seems like trouble due to the smog stuff. We are just looking right now,not in a hurry. I have been looking to check the value, but nothing close to the condition of hers. If anyone knows of anyone who wants a nice one have them email me. jp1gt@yahoo.com
Last January I bought a perfect condition 97 Centaurus III F 350 4x4 crew cab conversion with 86,000 in it for 12,500.
CB, radar detector, 12 disc CD changer, TV, custom console between the seats, custom overhead console, power rear window slider and custom wood dash and door trims added to the base XLT truck
So I would put a price tag somewhere around 10 to 12 on it.
Newest thing I would want is a 97.
After that the engine gets a little hard to work on the way it is tucked back under the cowl.
Your rig has items installed I'm interested in having done. Where would I find a company to do these (consoles - custom and overhead, etc) upgrades and modifications?
If this were the '70s, I'd go to the local van conversion shop. Are there truck conversion shops out there somewhere?
jp1gt - sorry for the hijack. Make sure you post your solution in your original thread. It'll make it easier to find the solution in the future when someone does a search for a problem similar to yours.
Like they have the TV, but not the console I have.
They have the dash and door trim, but not the matching accent light strips over the doors and by the overhead console.
They have the map lights in the overhead, but not the overhead.
Centurion Conversion of White Pigeon, Michigan was bought out by Southern Comfort Conversions.
They used a lot of the same conversion parts.
The link I had to Southern Comfort Conversions now goes to nowhere.
Most of the Lund body farings are no longer available from Lund for the 97 F350. (forgot to say anything about all of that above)
I know those parts are still out there, but finding them may be a chore if you are trying to do a complete vehicle.
I have heard several remarks about all the Lund lower body kit, and I have considered removing it.
But it sure does keep the truck a lot cleaner in the snow.
The only thing I have found I do not like, the running board steps are extremely trecherous with snow covered size 13 boots.
From what I have been able to find, if I ever get even a minor hit my truck will never look like it does now.
