Replaced my GPR with a BWD (GPR11) from Advance Auto Parts. When I turn the key, the GPR started buzzing. Is this normal? I have not heard this noise before, but my old GPR was bad and not working at all. Otherwise (so far) truck now starts with out plugging in.
Mine buzzes all the time, so I'm not sure. How cold is it when you start yours 2002ford4RV? How much was the new GPR? I've been thinking of getting a new one.
I've had my truck about 8 months, this will be my first winter with it. It starts rough below 30 degrees. If its on the plug it starts like a dream. So at home I just plug it in and set it on a timer to come on two hours before I leave fro work in the morning, but that cold start at work in the evening can be really rough.

The GPR will stay on and cycle about a minute after the 'wait to start' light goes out. If you are away from a plug, in the cold, count to about 30 after the light goes out to see if that helps it. You may need to ohm out each Glow plug to see if they are working. Being down 2 or 3 will make for a rough start.

Yup, I wait atleast 30 seconds before i try to crank her in the cold. I might have to dig a bit deeper into the glow plugs

off hand I am not sure how to test them out, but i have read on the forum of how to do it. A little 'search' or some help from a 'family member' should show how to do it.
