Ford Taurus Wierd Problem
That manual is for a 98, but your 99 is identical except for some engine control differences on the Duratec equipped models from 98-99.
If your 99 Taurus is a common, 3.0 model, everything in the 98 book should apply to your car.
For about $10, there's a wealth of info in that manual. Enjoy.

Her 99 has the regular V-6 in it, and not the Duratec. I have an 04 Taurus that has the Duratec in it. I figured the book would work for the 99. I think they changed some stuff for the 2000 models, so we should be good. When we bought the car about 5 years ago, the dome light bulb was missing. We bought it from some people selling their mothers car, who had just passed away. It only had 19,000 miles on it, and we got a great deal on it. I will se what I can find in the book when I get it, and go from there. Thanks everyone for all the help.
When you open the car door, the dome light comes on and goes out after so many seconds. Or after you close the door the dome light stays on for so many seconds. So there is a timer somewhere. Is the timer part of the GEM Module, or is it something seperate located somewhere else? If it's seperate, where and what would it be? Thanks
This is an edit. What is the accessory Delay Relay? It's the top right in the pic. What about the Battery Saver Relay? It's forth on the left.

for me Heat expansion during warm weather is making the dome light lose ground somehow, pull the cover and tighten the ground screw, bet it comes on all the time after that.

why buy a 300 dollar part ? do as i do and keep your eyes open , and you would be surprised at the deals to be had on complete cars with something wrong with them . case in point found a 99 { go figure } taurus wagon in a lil' town just north of here owned by a postmasters daughter that used to be moms car . all thats wrong with it is an oil sending unit , and a hole in the muffler . great beater , everything works including tha a/c . 350 bucks drive it home , part it or whatever . in this ones case i got a niece who just turned 16 . working on a 00 crown vic now that has some major front suspension issues . she hasn't found it's replacement yet , but when she does it's mine for 200 for parts for my bird and whatever else . hades the alternator alone is worth that .................. as far as the alternator on yours why don't you have it rebuilt at a local shop ???? i find it's a lot cheaper and a friend of ours runs it with his dad and stands behind his work . no prob's yet with anything they've done .
Well, I got it all fixed up today. I went to a you pull it junk yard. I pulled 4 GEM Modules before I found the right one. The one I found was out of another 99 model, but was a nicer model then the one we have. Everything seems to work, so I don't think it needs to be reprogrammed. With tax and all, I paid $22.68 for the GEM Module, and they charge $2.00 just to go back there. So all in all, it cost me $24.68, and about 5 gallons of gas. I think I made out pretty good. Thanks for the help everyone.

If so, ya did good! Congrats.
It's quite possible that the GEM doesn't need to be programmed to the vehicle. There are many modules that do, like the RAP. I've been out of the dealership for about 10 years and my memory has become fuzzy on a lot of those details.

I don't even remember what the RAP module is for, but I know it needs to be programmed to the vehicle darn it!
So you figure it fixed the problem? You mentioned that it happened during warm weather.
