Hi all, I need some help please. I have a 1990 F350 with a 7.3 in it.
Went to start it the other day and it cranked slow like a dead battery. I went and got the batteries charged and checked, put them back in and it fired up. drove it around for a few miles, came home, turned it off. went back out later and same problem.
took alternator off, had it tested. its good
had starter tested. its good
cables are all good
batteries are fully charged and good
what else could it be?
That sounds like contact problems. Go get a battery brush or steel bristled brush. Brush the posts on your batteries and the inside of the terminal clamps until they shine. Get some vaseline and smeer it on the posts. Put the terminal clamps back on and tighten them down really hard so there is no play in them. That should fix it.

Also good advice from michbol. Make sure the main ground wire is tight where it bolts to the engine, the heavy gauge wire is tight where it bolts to the starter and the connections are tight at the fender mounted starter relay.
