1989 Ford Bronco Drive Abilty Issue
Hi I'm new to Ford Truck Enthusiasts and I find this site very useful when it comes to home repairs at the house or on a friends a vehicle. anyways I drive a 1989 ford bronco. it has a 351 w 5.8 and a c6 tranny it pretty much stock except for various parts I've replace to try and fix my problem, my problem is one when the truck is started up tranny fluid will come out the top of the dip stick and second the truck dies after 15-20 min of idling I've pulled codes its a eec-iv system and the codes are 44 koer (Thernomic Air Fualt) and 32 koeo koer(Egr Fualt). I've checked my vent to the tranny its clear I've checked vacuum hoses they pass I've replaced the following new: tfi, ect sensor, fuel pump, Fuel Filter, relays, battery, cap and rotor. I've swapped the following from a spare truck I have for parts: idle air control valve, the MAP sensor, the air temp sensor, distributor, and the TPS. I've cleaned all the ground I could find, I've checked the computer according to the Haynes manual, I set my timing at 10 BTC* with the spout unplugged, I ohmed out my plugs, spark plugs where changed about 1,000 miles ago with auto lites, oil changed very recently, the tranny has had a filter kit put in and new fluid about 2,400 miles ago, my maintaince has been high keep. The problem first occurred when I was four wheeling in about 100 degree heat it died and wouldn't restart now I'm at a loss of what to do please help.

I'm sorry, I'm too numb right now, maybe tomorrow, but I'll bump this one up, it sounds like a PIP sensor btw... It has been happening a lot lately, weird stuff... Regarding your trans, it's overheating, see that your coolant level is fine, that the fan-clutch is working, that the rad cap is holding pressure, that the thermostat is working and check all the system/hoses for leaks. Then measure the ATF level while the truck is at operating temp, while idling in park (after a short drive would be ideal), consider replacing the ATF (which is probably broken down from overheating several times) and the transmission filter, and install an auxiliar cooler, there is a link to do most of these procedures in my signature under "E4OD Cooler & Shift Kit mods".
