yet another problem
how do i figure out what could be causin a low voltage drain. if i run the truck daily and un hook the terminals at night there is no problem but if i park it for a day or so th battery is totally dead and i have checked every thing as far as light bulbs and found i believe all of the bare wires but still the bateries go dead
With the batteries disconnected, place a test light between the pax side disconnected battery cable and the battery. The test light will light, start removing/replacing fuses, any fuse removed that causes the light to go out is the one feeding the offending circuit/accessory. Remember the hood light, glove box, door/interior lights will pe prime culprits...... Feel your alternator on a cold engine if it is warm then there is an internal problem.
It's going to sound silly but you could have "one' bad battery, you see these batterys are connected parallel so when you unhook them (i'm assuming your doing at the post) you take it out of the loop. even if it just has one weak cell it'll bring the other one down to it's level of charge. hope this helps.
im sure that the batteries arent bad b/c i put one standard size battery in it and one combine battery ( half again bigger than standard) on the opposite side
the batteries are both new and both have the same cca's & ca's one is just bigger than the other also i checked my alternator and the voltage output is between 13.5 and 15.5 depending on rpms also what is the pax side that plc 7.3 is talking about in his reply im a novice when it comes to wiring jargin
this sounds a but elementary but assuming you have the light under your hood that turns on when you open it, that could stay running when its shut. Mine was disconnected when i bought it and I hooked it back up. A couple of days later i figured out why it was diconnected. It had been staying running while the hood was shut. I doubt that would drain your batteries overnight though. Just a thought...
check and see if your radio is turning off, in one of my trucks the ingition switch is a bit out of adjustment and somtimes when i shut it off and slam the door closed the radio will turn back on
