Help installing exhaust needed!
Im installing a Borla exhaust on my 99 Explorer Sport SOHC. Ive gotten the old one removed, except the the part where the flange pipe and clamp pipe (right at the muffler) meet the pipes out of the cat. converter. I cut the hangers and have all the bolts off. The problem is that I cant get the pipes to unjoin (that a word?) where the clamp and flange are. They seem practically fused together. How do you guys get these removed/separated? Im thinking I may have to cut it off but I really don't want to if I dont have to. I used Liquid Wrench and whacked on it with a hammer to loosen....no dice. Any help or suggestions? If I have to cut it off how can I make sure the new system matches up ok?

It will probably take a good beating to get them apart. The connection you are talking about, the pipe slides in to the other pipe. A "U" clamp is then tightened down around it. When I put my Borla on my '97 SOHC a few years ago, my exhaust came apart pretty easily. I live in Arizona though so I don't have to contend with the corrosion that a lot of vehicles are subjected to. If you can't beat it apart then you will probably have to cut it off and then work the left over pieces of metal out of the pipe.
