mbrp help

Can I instal my new mbrp turbo back system now and put the cat delete pipe in later? The cat pipe didnt get ordered so I dont know when I will get it. How does the cat delete pipe go on? I noticed the end of the down pipe has a flange where it bolts to the cat but the mbrp down pipe doesnt. does the other end just get clamped? Thanks.

I would think there should be some adapter that would connect the MBRP downpipe to the stock cat. Did you forget to order the cat delete or did the dealer you purchased from forget? Either way sounds like something is missing as I would think the whole idea behind even purchasing a cat delete pipe is so that you can swap it out with the cat when needed. Maybe contact MBRP or check the instructions?

I dont think the dealer knows what he is talking about. I told him to order a cat and muffler delete pipe in addition to the exhaust system. I think he thought the system itself deleted the cat(witch it does but you cant put it back on when you need to like you could with the delete pipe.) I am just a little confused as to how it would go on. I could probably figure it out if I had it! Thanks for the reply.

Did you order the Offroad kit that comes with the cat delete, or did you order a turbo back kit that uses your stock cat ??

i ordered the offroad one, so no cat, but still the downpipe is two pieces, and the second piece has the same flange on that will bolt to the cat if you want to use it. the other piece behind the cat should be a clamp on piece you might have to just cut the pipe behind your stock cat and slip it on, then once you get the cat delete pipe you can remove the clamp/unbolt the cat and slip the new piece on . i just did my MBRP kit 3 days ago so it's still fresh in my mind.

actually if you order the OFFROAD kit, it comes with the cat delete pipe. but even so ,like my previous post stated, you WILL be able to put your cat back on if you needed to smog it, you might have to just remove the back half of the MBRP and just have a few feet of stock pipe behind your cat as your whole exhaust, but it's only going to be on there long enough to smog it, then you can reinstall the shiny one

I got the pro series and the down pipe is in two pieces but there is no flange on the lower piece. So it sounds like even if I had the cat delete pipe I couldnt use it because I have the wrong section of down pipe. This really pisses me off because the 6.0 needs to go in for warranty work soon. Do you think I could send the lower portion of the downpipe back and they would swap it for the correct one? Thanks for the help.

I think MBRP makes a turbo back kit called offroad or cat delete kit and you can not change the cat delete section to the stock cat. What you need is a turbo back kit with a cat delete test pipe orderd seperately. The downpipe will be 3.5" diameter and it will be in two pieces and the lower piece will be designed to bolt to the stock cat or the cat delete test pipe if ordered seperately. I ordered mine through Dieselsite and the salesman knew what he was looking for when I ordered mine a few months ago or I would have ordered the kit you couldn't change back and forth with and not knew it until I got it and opened it up. I think I am right on this but don't hold me to it.

Look at the kit instructions below:

This kit allows use of the OEM kitty. You will need the additional MBRP kitty delete pipe to make this exhaust smog friendly when being tested or for warranty work.

This kit is the "Off-Road" version that will delete the OEM kitty completely and you cannot swap the kitty in as easy as the kit listed above.

Hi Yes you can install your turbo back system and then install the cat delete when you get it delivered.

I talked to MBRP today and found out that the guy who ordered my kit ordered the wrong one. He ordered the off-road kit that does not allow you to use the original cat or the cat delete pipe. I asked about swapping the lower half of the down pipe for the one with the flange and they wouldnt go for it. Buying it seperate is too pricey. Has anyone ever welded a flange onto a downpipe so that they could use the cat and does anyone have any ideas on how to do so? I'm not a welder but my brother is.

Thanks, elkarcher
