I thought mom's Escape battery was dead so I jumped in the F-150 and cranked her up. It's 20F today, feels like 7. Pretty cold.
After pulling the F-150 back into her stall, I revved it up to 1,100 rpm (holding it there). I couldn't help but notice the very sudden drop in RPM and the truck make a kind of "shudder". Very very brief but this would happen every few moments holding it at this RPM.
Hi Bill,How are ya doin? Before you get too wound up on it,try putting some dry gas in your tank, you may just have a little water.I have run into that before, and on these EFI's it tends to act a little weirder than on the carb engines. It's good insurance for winter anyway, that baby freezes a line on you and you'll be spittin' nails.Hope that's all it is.
A miss depending on severity will be like pulling a plug wire or again depending on how extensive and severe the situation more than one wire and starting it up. a Stumble or hessitations exactly that it kinda falls on it's face with a stumble Hessitation is you giver gas and theres a delay in response or sluggish response
Bill, you may have just caught her in a quirk, may not do it all the time.I had my engine light come on going up north then it went away,2wks later it came on again on the way back from up north after filling up at the same station. The code said it was an O2 sensor heater, then it went out and hasn't come on since AND I haven't ever filled up at that station again. So you see, unless it constantly continues,it could be even the gas that happens to be in it right now,or maybe you just pissed her off right then.See what happens for a little while.
Mr. Buster, I'll get back to you on that. My truck is very quirky. Sometimes she'll do things for a short bit then go away. I am indeed going to put some dry gas in the tank though, because of how the truck has been sitting and the cold cold cold weather!
OKay, I put some dry gas in the tank. Hesitation seemed to subside for the most part, until today. Seems like the truck needs to warm up and stay warm for a good while before the hesitation completely disapears. Note also that until the hesitation is gone my low end power seems to take a noticable hit.
Conclusion: I'm not going to worry about it right now. The truck needs a good going over and a good tune up. I'm sure this is fuel related because of the unrelenting cold weather.
