problems with truck missing f 150
driving at about about 60 to 80 km 0r more and truck seems to jump you feel it is engine miss firing or trany screwing up also rpm is high at this time very iratic you feel it in your seat this is a1991 f150 5 lt. it will do it evey few minutes then it is fine.maybe truck isn t getting fuel i don t know help will be great

ive heard that a clogged catylytic converter will make the truck "jump" like you have described. you could either dish out the money for a new one, 60 to 100 $, or you could take it off and bash all the crap outa it and insert a piece of exhaust thruogh it to make a "dummy" cat. it just depends on what you wanna do and if indeed the cat is clogged up. if it is clgged, it oughta turn bright red hot after some long driving. check it at night and see if it glows red.

If the cat is clogged or restricted, you will also feel less go in higher rpm's. The idle may be fine until you press on the gas for higher rpm's. That is my experience with an older camaro I have. Punching it out and using it is cheaper, and in MN no testing anyhow, so get away with it. On my Truck 1993 5.0L the cat if I remember is part of the Y-pipe assembly and bought new one for $600.00 or so. but easier than custom exhaust for regular driving/performance.
