How do I decode my vin number. I am trying to find a factory replacement cd player for my truck, but the plugs were cut off and no radio in it when I bought it. I have seen a bunch of different radios.
Thanks
Dion
All the superduty radios from 99 - 03 should be compatible with your truck. There were some wiring changes in 02 but they didn't affect the radio. I've ordered the single cd and cassette radio with my 02 truck. Several years later I took my wife's 6cd 01 radio and stuck it in my truck and it works fine.
I bought a single cd player off Ebay, the guy stated it was for 99-04. However the radi has April 98 written on as man. date the numbers are F87F-18C868-AD. The radio came with the plugsin cut from the harness, but the wire colors are not all the same as mine, and I have no plugs on my trucks harness to go from.
Apr 98 means it was out of an early 99 truck. Look at the diagram in this link https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...m-request.html for a lat 99 model and see if the wiring colors match your truck or the radio plugs. Once we know which part matches that diagram, we'll search for the other diagram so you can match the correct wires up.
I followed the link, that is the exact wiring on my trucks harness. The radio however has some other colors on it, including a yellow/black wire, and two red/black wires.
In most case it would be plug and play but my harness has no plugs, and the radio l got has different wire colors on its plugs.
I will go the wrecker option if thats what it comes to. I do not have enought time these days to get there while they are open lol. Too much work, no play.
