heh, tell that to everyone who commutes all winter and runs 70mph+ every day. you can drive fast in slick conditions(they dont salt here and hardly sand) you just have to think very far ahead and start braking early. also mostly everyone runs studded snow tires also.
it doesnt get real cold here(coldest you'll see here is -30F an thats not often), but go north though and it can be -60F or more no windchill mind you. plug'em in and they seem fine? i've never owned one and i didnt buy one because of the long warmup times and starting issues in winter. the newer ones seem alot better though about cold starts.
Yeah I wanna move up north, I want my drive to work to be more fun, and having great places to go on a weekend, that don't take like 4+ hours, and longer if I want to go offroading...
-30F? I can suddenly get what you meant in your other thread (excursion board) about refusing to sit in a cold truck, lol. Worst I've sat in in this truck is -10C, but this winter looks to be a beast all it's own. Oh how I dream of remote start on those days... or at least it not being a 3 minute walk to my truck...
haha yeah i dont like a cold truck, a garage and remote start are nice
thats the nice thing about where i live, you could be in the middle of down town crazy traffic. 45mins either way north/south your out on your own, at one with the world..so to speak anyhow.
Some people have to learn the hard way...
Got rear-ended by a minivan following too close for the conditions.
The drop on my hitch placed the ball directly through the guy's radiator.
Yearly insurance increase after 100% fault accident: 3000$
Minivan plastic repairs: 6000$
Watching the guy you rear-ended brush the plastic shavings off the bumper of his 94 F250 and drive away without a scratch: priceless
A note on the Alaskan conditions: If its anything like here, everyone has serious winter tires and studs, which makes a totally uncomparable difference to some of more southern places where "All-Seasons" are used on snow...
