I have a 1999 2WD F250. The truck is a crew cab and has the V10 with 3:73. I am experiencing an intermittant problem with the ABS and cruise control. I am not sure they are related but seem to both happen at the same time. The ABS light will come on (steady light) once truck get moving (approx 20 + MPH). If the ABS light is on, the cruise will not work either. No ABS light, the cruise appears to work OK. I have never seen this problem till it got cold out here in KAnsas. Some days this problem does not happen, other days it does. Please give some advise if you can! (Rear wheel ABS only)
Don't know why Ford linked the two features, but they definitely are related. Sounds like you need a new ABS controller. Before spending mega-$$$ at Ford, you might check around at a few salvage yards. Be sure to get one for RABS vs 4-wheel ABS.
I had the same problem along with the speedo not reading speed until about 15-20mph. The problem started with symptoms like your and progressively added new symptoms then the tranny started shifting funny. It was the speed sensor over the rear diff. about $11 and 10 minutes work to replace, fixed it.

Charles is right... Had the same problem.. Dealer wanted $200 to replace the rear speed sensor. Paid $14 for the part, took 10 minutes to install, and went to AutoZone and had them clear the code. (Mine had already triggered the Service Engine Soon light)
