Hey guys, I have a problem with my '85. It is leaking fuel badly on the IP end of the #2 injection line, right by the nut that holds it on the IP. You can see it spewing when the engine is running. Its creating quite a river of fuel down the valley. The engine is running rough, it seems like it may be missing, or at least the timing is messed up on #2.
Its hard to tell exactly where its leaking from, the IP or the line/nut.
The question I have for ya'll is: What year injection lines will fit my 6.9? I've seen a CL ad for an '89 7.3 IP for $100, including the lines and gear cover. I'm wondering if it'd be worth it just for the lines. Will the '89 IP fit my '85 if I do need to replace the IP?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Update: I looked at it more closely, and I found that the line has actually sheared off. So all I need is a set of lines. Will the '89 lines work?
I believe they will work, although there is a difference in one of the cylinders due to a timing adapter on the injector. I think its the injector for cylinder one, but I might be wrong. In that case, just swap the line you need and the rest keep as spares.
The IP should be a direct swap.
you don't want to swap just one 7.3l line,or that cylinder's injection timing will be off from the rest of them due to different length lines betwen the 6.9 and 7.3l iv read.
if you swap lines, you'll want to use a whole set from either engine, not miss matched so your injection timing stays even between all cylinders,as i understand it.
