I have a 2000 Expedition. Had some issues with the steering gear box (sgb). It was broken and I replaced it with a new pitmen arm. While under the truck the horn started blasting and wouldn't shut-off. Found out the airbag code is 32. So I bought a new clockspring and found out how hard it is to do that. After I did the sgb I drove the truck to the aligment shop as my steeling wheel was at the 7-1 o'clock position not 9-3 position. Now after the aligment they told me that I needed 2 balljoints on the right side. Not a problem. Did 2 uppers control arms and 2 lower. My concern is will my steering wheel be straight again even after having the alignment done again? It's not.
Was the steering wheel straight before you removed it to change the clockspring?
Before I did the steering gear box everything was straight. After the box installed, drive the truck and the steering wheel was off. After a quick aligment was still off. Try to see if the pitman arm was off but no. That's when the clockspring went crazy. I just started steering whell off and see couple spring pop up.
In that case you just need to have a 4-wheel alignment done. They should straighten the steering wheel as part of the service, but to play it safe be sure to mention that the steering wheel is off center.
