I was on a 600 mile trip and usually listen to Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Merle and Mark Chestnut, etc...
However, everytime I put a CD in it gave an err message and pushed the CD back out. So I tried the cassete player. The tape wouldn't even go in...
Has anyone else had this problem and whats the fix if there is one ?
Or do I need to just get a new radio ? And if so where ?
My truck is in my sign and this is the first time it's done this.
Thanks and I need my country music while I drive.
Sometimes you can simply remove the radio and disconnect all the connectors. Try reconnecting it and see if it resets. Sometimes it works if there is not a failed part inside. Worth a try. You can get Ford Radio removal tools at any parts store for a few dollars.
It won't help u with the cassettes but I put all my cds on my Ipod and hooked it to an fm modulator. I have a habit for scraping up the cds. It works just fine and allows me to carry it with me or play it on the shop radio when I am sitting.
Will Best Buy have a radio that will fit ?
Or is their a sponsor that will have a replacement radio ?
Thanks again
You can get kits to make just about any radio fit the opening now. A single DIN radio with a adapter kit will fit as well as a double DIN radio will fit, with a bit of minor trimming at the cutout. Not a big deal and will not show when you are done. Best Buy should have something to fit your needs, or online like Crutchfield.com.
Fix or replace depends on your goals. For my F250 that came with an AM/FM, I just wanted to add CD and get reasonable sound, so I got a salvage Ford radio with the CD/cassette and upgraded all four speakers in my SC.
I didn't want to spend a lot and I did want to retain the stock look and feel. Radio was about $75 and speakers about $150. Used all stock wiring and connectors. Just got the double-DIN radio extraction tools as shown above, popped in the used radio and spent a couple of hours replacing speakers.
