Been hunting for last two weeks, and on one of those old back roads the other night this guy was to close and we smacked mirrors, if i would not have jerked over he would have took the whole side of the truck off, so i am looking for a ford part only, i got his insurance stuff, the thing is i need the mirror because i need to get it inspected, it scratched the side window and pitted it and chipped the paint up the side of the window, i was not a happy camper, it was late, been hunting all day, and i was like what the heck, i can't believe this, plus i had to pull the 30ft camper home with only one mirror. I know some of you guys have put new model mirror's on, so any help you guys, and gals have is already appreciated. Thanks alot. John
I lost the same mirror the same way over the summer to a rental RV coming over the line. Nice glass explosion. The Ford tow mirror was $265 from the dealer according to the body shop that did my work. Pretty reasonable given the typically outrageous prices at the dealer. Only difference between the original and replacement mirror was the painted graduations on the OE arms to show how far the mirror is extended. My 02 mirror is electrically adjustable, but not heated and no turn signal. Worth checking the dealer for pricing, anyhow.
Mine lost the driver's side but it was only the top glass. About $50.00 from Ford. I got it on but still can't get it to work with the motors. At least I can see out the back. A landscape trailer did mine.
I just replaced my passenger mirror. Someone must have moved the fence post while I was backing up Here is a link to where I got mine. It was a perfect fit and great quality.
Trike1946: I just basicly "rebuilt" my mirrors on my '99 because the paint on the arms was flaking off:You have to completely dis-assemble the mirrors to be able to change out the arms:Anyway we had a real hard time getting the TOP GLASS back in and with the help of a member here we were able to get it in:Here is how he said to do it (and I believe its a bit harder to do with the mirror on the truck):He said to make sure you put the 2 little white pins with the ***** on the end into the mirror head (glass) first then use "what ever you've got" to coax them into the motors starting with the one closest to the trucks window then the other one:I too had trouble getting the darn things to work once I was sure they were into the motors right:I kept moving the glass WITH the motors (with power) back and forth and then putting some light pressure on the side that didn't seem to want to go:just kept working all angles until they "seated" themselves and now all is well:kinda complecated:If you need/want more help just ask!! Good Luck!!-Rick

I know you need the whole thing but....I was a dumb a$$ last winter and scratched the mirror on the drivers side.I went to a auto glass place and they overlayed the scratched one.Good as new.
