I was browsing at stereos to replace my stock unit (in sig.) at Best Buy and they had a little fit check for the units and none of them came back as fitting my truck. Any idea on what to get and what specs or adders I may need to pull this off. Finally got an iPod Touch and thought it would be real cool to no longer haul around a bunch of CD's.
Dave, look at the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT. It's a double din, touch screen, dvd/cd player, with sd card slot, usb port, I-pod jack, and blue tooth. It fits great. I just worked out a trade with one of my son's friends who works at Best Buy. He got me the stereo, install kit, and wiring harness adapter, and even installed it, and I didn't spend a dime out of my pocket! I love the stereo, it sounds good even with my original speakers, and looks great. Next is speakers, a sub and an amp. Click the link below to see the unit and specs. I'll try to get a pic or 2 of it in my truck to show you as well.
You can also go to Crutchfield.com and try out their Outfit My Car page. They offer a pretty comprehensive tool that will show you exactly what will fit and what wont. The nice thing about them is the customer service they provide. When you choose a stereo that suites your needs, they provide the install kit, wiring harness adapter, a guide on how to install it and of course phone support (people who know stereos and you can understand).
Their prices are a little more than some of the stereo shops, but I have found that by the time you get all the stuff needed it is probably the same price. I have bought the last three decks I have had through them, and almost all of my home equipment. Really a stand up company with great customer service. They also keep your information online, so if you decide to add on they know what you already have, which makes it nice. I have returned stuff to them and they never have any issues whether it is their fault or mine for the return.
If anything, you will get a good example of the types and numbers of the stereos that will fit yours!

Good info Ken. I myself have never dealt with them, but I have heard nothing but good things. I just prefer to deal face to face, with local places, for the most part. Of course there are exceptions........
BTW, here is a pic of mine....

Reason: add pic
It is the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT, there is a link to it in my post above (post #2). I like the fact that I can add HD and Navigation later on, as funds allow, rather then have to pay big money all at once. They are simple plug and play additions. I can even add a rear view camera the same way.
Duh! I even opened the link and looked it up at Best Buy! Really need to get these glasses fixed! That's what I get for browsing while oiling my air filter.
Would there be a space if you returned your stock unit? Just thinking of potential future possibility of another truck since I am almost at 350K miles.
