Truck wont start...

I took the panel off that sits below the windshield wipers and truck was running fine I also had to remove the weather guard that keeps water from dropping into the back of the engine bay. It got rained on and still ran fine but just before I parked it for the night it stalled and would not turn back on. Now when I start to turn it on it just turns over strong but wont ignite... Also just before that the antilock brake light went off... could that have something to do with it?

could something in the back of engine bay have gotten wet, that shouldnt have?

its a '87 EFI regular cab.

thx

If anything got wet, it would be the distributor. Pull the cap off and check for moisture inside. Are you getting spark? Do you hear the fuel pumps running for 2 seconds when you turn the key to on?

What engine? How many miles? Any recent repairs or odd behavior?

I recently took the bed off to paint it, but if i smashed a line or anything puting it back on it woldnt have run for the 20 miles that it did.

the engine has 98k on it.

I'll have to check for the fuel pumps when starting it.

I live in so cal and recently drove it up to san francisco and back with no odd behavior runs like a champ.

if the distributor gets wet will it allow the motor to turn over like it does?

Not necessarily so. If you pinched a wire between something, the insulation will keep it from shorting out... for a while.

Sure it will. It just won't fire.

the distributor is not wet, its fine, I even hit it with a blow dryer on high heat to get rid of any water. If i was to buy some starter fluid where would i spray it, the intake manifold? is this a good idea? The gas tanks were really really low right before this happened so im pretty sure its gunna be a clogged filter or line... if thats the case do you think the starter fluic will fire it up and push the material through?

So I bought starter fluid and even changed the fuel filter, no luck.

I finally decided to check for spark and sure enough, there is none.

Stumped because I dont know where to go from here... I let it sit all day today and it still turns over hard but doesnt fire...

well no spark can be a few things. Bad coil, bad ignition module are usually the first things you should check
