Will the OBD II Code Reader/ EOBD Scanner tell me if the tranny is goin out, the pistons are misfiring, the head gasket warn, coolant or any leaks like oil, or any other engine problems???
Yes, no, maybe and sometimes. It depends on what code is issued and how it is interpreted. It isn't all cut and dry.
A code reader will show you an error. It might say you have a misfire in 2 adjacent cylinders, but will not tell you a head gasket failed. It isn't cut and dry. You may see a P0306 code (Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected) but now what caused it? COP? Spark plug? Boot? Vacuum leak?
The code reader you linked might be OK, but I do not see anything in the specifications about reading pending codes. With these engines it is important to read the pending codes. It takes many many misfires to light the CEL and issue an error code, but the misfires will be on pending codes. (Yes, this is very common).

Thanks for the fast responce REDFORD. Will is read a Vacuum leak?? The reason I ask is the auto inspectors charge $200 + and I see this is all they use. I just want to know if the engine has any trouble before I buy.
