I have an '02 Expedition. Recently the truck started not wanting to crank, It was turning over but not starting. I could turn the key on and off a few times and the truck would start. I replaced the fuel filter and the pump. Then I had coil pack go out. I had the code ran and replaced that as well. The truck still does not want to crank with out turning the key on and off mulitple times, it also still has a mis to it like a coil pack is bad that is on and off not all the time, there are also times I spell fuel inside the truck and also the truck shuts off at random going down the road. So far it has started right back up. I really need to figure out what is wrong with it as soon as possible.
I agree with alloro, test your fuel pressure, also check the connection at the fuel pump, and all the wiring going to it, make sure the connections are corroded or damaged.
My expedition is getting worse. The miss is getting worse and it shuts off more often. There are no codes. The check engine light is not on. I was told that it wouldn't loose pressure if it was running so i haven't checked the pressure yet. Would the check valve let the pressure release if the truck was running or even driving down the road I ws told it could be the check valve. I need some advice asap! I have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter. The fuel pump assembly is $400.
The truck shuts off like it has ran out of gas. When it shuts off I have to turn the key on and off a few times to make it crank again when it does crank it cranks strong. Some times when I start the truck it wont start and when it doesn't want to start I can turn the key on and off a few times and it will fire right up. I haven't had any battery problems lately, all the lights stay bright when the truck shuts off.
