I have a 2000 excursion 7.3 and for the last 6 months or so I have had a hard time starting it. It always starts though. I wait for the wait to start light goes off and when it cranks it turns over very slow. I had the batteries replaced and no luck. Sometimes I have to turn the key off and start over to get it to start. It does it hot or cold. I even replaced the glow plugs thinking that would be it and still no luck. I hate to keep throwing things at it.

I am new to diesels... but how long should it take to start cold and how long warm?
I have been waiting for the "wait to start" light to turn off, then have to turn the ignition for about a full 1.5 seconds before it cranks over.
How long is yours taking? and I assume you have replaced the fuel filter?
I would check and clean all the electrical connections on the starter and make sure the batterys are at full charge and if it still doesnt change, im thinkin the starter has about had it.
