Hey guys
I just got my tanny rebuilt but I have this problem. It was there befor the rebuild so I doubt its the tranny. When driving if you let off the gas pedal quickly it wil jolt. This also happens if your foot is not on the pedal and you give it gas quickly. Any ideas?
Thanks
David

I'm trying to figure out what you mean by jolt. Could you maybe give a little more detail? When I think of the jolt when you hit the gas I am thinking maybe hesitation but am not sure with the deceleration.
Its kinda like a clunk. It does not shudder or make any noise. Iwas thinking that maybe something had some play in it so that when you let off the gas somthing else would come arond and catchup with it. then you give it gas and it speeds back up and cathes the other part. I dont know this is just speculation of what it sounds like.
Thanks
David
Have you checked your U-joints? Maybe the differential needs to be serviced and needs to be inspected for wear, chipped or broken teeth on the gears or anything else. Maybe the backlash just needs to be set in the ring and pinion. I would look towards this area and do a quick driveline inspection before tearing into anything or paying to have a shop look at something. Do a check and make sure everything seems tight and that there is no exsessive play at the pinion where the driveshaft hooks to the yoke. Make sure that yoke nut is tight as well. My parents had their van into a shop for a vibration and clunking sound a while ago. The so called mechanic said the tranny was fine and that they might need to have the rear axle fixed and that it could cost up to $600-$700. I looked at it and found that it just needed 2 new U-joints totalling $45. I just say this to beware because I just replied to message a week ago where someone was being taken for the same ride with a Bronco.
