Hood release on 2011 F250

Has anyone noticed trouble opening the hood on their new truck? Normally, when pulling the release in the cab, the hood pops up an inch or two and then you release the latch under the hood above the grill-on most trucks. ON my truck, I pull the release in the cab, and the hood doesnt pop up. I have to force it up, with alot of pressure I might add, to get the few inch gap. Then I release it normally and it goes right up. Is this a fitment issue? Or are all of your trucks doing the same thing. I opened the hood at the dealer, it behaved like this, and the salesman seemed to think it was normal....

Go with the salesman to one or two trucks for sale on the lot and open the hood. If they open the same way, I guess it is normal. If they do not, tell the dealership to fix yours.

My three week old F-350 hood opens
easily. Yours has a problem the salesman
doesn't want to know about.

Mine opens easily, your latch assembly may just need adjusting.

thanks for the feedback guys. I checked and it doesnt seem greased at all. Some all purpose grease do the trick or white lithium or what? Or should I take it back to the dealer incase it actually needs adjusted? I am leery of letting anyone else touch my vehicles...especially bone heads at the dealer...

Grease

I would try a little grease first. If that does not work, then take it to the dealer and insist on a fix. The WD40 would be OK for a test, but it will evaporate pretty quickly. I lubricate hood latches with spray on white lithium grease. Wipe off the excess. One application last for many years.

Currently have about 10 new 2011 F250 and F350 and don't have that problem on any of them. Sounds to me like the front catch is out of adjustment. I had the same problem on my 2007 F350 and looked at the front catch, made adjustment and problem went away. Hope this helps

I agree with countryboy, adjust your latch. I've had to do it before, though not on my '11.

Well thanks for the help guys, I just ended up spraying some white lithium grease on the latching assembly. Worked perfectly the very first time I popped the latch, it just popped right up like it is supposed to.
