im in the process of removing my trans.. not sure of the code number. my trucks a '94 4.9L 5spd. and i cannot figure out how to remove my trans cable.. i tried to spin it off like my jeeps did and i can tell that it is spinning or was but i dunno if its coming off (very limited light and head space), would there be some type of snap ring or clip preventing it to comeoff?
I know on my 4x4, where it attaches at the t-case, there is actually a stud with a bracket, and a nut that you have to remove, then it will pull out. Yours is probably like that

mine looks like a cap. it has a ring of plastic around it. has no grip(for lac of a better word) on my jeep its spins right off and the turbo350 i had in my monte ss was the same way.. so this isnt my first time pullin a trans.. just hung up on the speedo cable
Is there actually a cable from it? The '94 should use the VSS on the rear axle for the speedometer. It may be just a cap to plug the un-used hole in the transfer case, but without seeing it I have no idea.
If you have the one with the plastic collar, just feel for the ribbed side of the collar and push it to the side. While pushing pull the cable straight out. Push on the end furthest from the transfer case.
