I just discovered something new. One the Gauge Detail Screen theirs 3 little boxes at the top, 1st is oil temp & trans temp, 2nd is the compass, and the 3rd is blank (black in color), what is this 3rd box suppose to represent?
There is nothing displayed in that screen right now. So either options that we don't have show up there, or Ford has a spare screen to add new displays to.
I thought it might be to intentionally minimize light emitting from the screen in case a driver wanted a really dark panel. That screen brightness can get annoying sometimes. It doesn't seem to be as dark as the gauges no matter where you set it.
I like that theory. I don't think it makes sense to have a "placeholder" screen, since it's just software and they could add as many screens as they wanted, without the need for a placeholder. I've been wondering what it was for since I bought the truck... I think DK Farms has hit the nail on the head
Yes and yes to both (at least on the Nav system) - on the radio, you can blackout the screen and still have the radio playing. Just cycle the "Display" button until it blacksout the screen.
It would be really cool if Ford would allow users to take their data elements from the computer (e.g. trailer brake readout, temp, and others, etc.) and build a custom screen. You could combine the single pieces of information that you use from various screens onto one screen. To top that off, adding a .jpg of your kids in the background.
