Reflash Any Problems??

Went to the dealer a few weeks ago to see about gitting the new and first reflash done on the "11". Dealer told me to wait as they had problems with the first reflash and wiped out the trucks cpu. Was back today and they said the could do it now because they had done a few and had no problems. But they also said the the owners who had it done were complaining about GPM droping. It could be the winter fuel or the flash. Anyone havea opinion on this and if I lose GPM i'm not sure i want it done. Truck runs great with out it.

I remember that my truck took an extra day because they had "technical difficulties" with the flash.

After getting the flash I know of no ill effects; fuel economy seems about the same and power is very comparable. We only gained 10 HP, so at full throttle the difference isn't that great.

I have no regrets. GET THE FLASH!

I have a 450. Flash was a geat improvement in drivability. Fuel mileage didn't improve much (not too good to start but way better than my 08), but certainly did not go down.

my dad bought a 2011 f350 and got the reflash on his truck and now he's having problems with the throttle response, he told me that the truck has a dead pedel feeling. the ford dealership up here in alaska told him that they are working on the issue.

There are 100000 new trucks out there and I would guess 99000 have the new flash. There have been only a few reports of computer issues and most certainly those were dopey dealer issues. The vast majority of the owners of pre-flash trucks are very satisfied with the new features that the flash brings to the table. Get er done.

The dead pedal issue is not related to the flash.

X2 here. Stumbling issues, part throttle and low end hesitation. Drove another truck flashed with same problem....don't think we can fault the dealer for this.....a flash isn't that complicated.

I agree with rickso. I posted early about what i thought was TURBO LAG and have had same problems. Called the dealer about any updates or tbs they said no. Asked if the heard about the whine that some trucks have. Again the answer was no.

Are you guys having this throttle hesitiation after coasting and maybe even applying brake (such as until a vehicle in the front turns), then you try to accelerate?

I use that as an example because this is where I experience this the most (county roads, too many side roads) and I even roll into the accelerator carefully but sometimes the darn thing just doesn't respond then lurches ahead because I kept pushing until it wakes up or it will downshift.
I could understand if I floored it but I don't.
I may just be noticing this more because I've only been doing local driving recently.

I have had no issues since the flash (first week of september) and this past Sunday I was pulling out onto the highway and once in 3rd, RPM's shot up and I lost speed. Had to coast it into 2nd then all was great and has been since then. I'm glad a semi wasn't behind me. I'm keeping an eye on this and I'm optimistic it won't happen again.

I'm still happy with the flash because that resolved much of the tranny issues (well, until this past Sunday) so now all we need to figure out is this throttle "lag."

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I looked down to see if i had some how bumped the shifter into neutral. When i talked with the dealer they sayed that nothing would show on the computer unless the engine service light had come on.

Is this reflash an update, something that comes with a new truck, and if so at what date. Maybe it is allready done in my truck. Do you know how I can tell?? Thanks

If your truck was built after 2 Sep 2010, it's probably already done. It was an update to raise HP/torque to 400/800 and to address some shifting issues.

Thanks. Mine was a factory order built in later August and the dealer phoned me, around the end of August and told me I was getting the 400/ 800 update so I guess I will assume that it is done ..

Mayne Man,
You can tell for sure if it was done or not by hitting the + on your shifter. This will bring up your tranny gear display. If you shut your truck off and start it up again, put it in gear and they gear indicator is still displayed, then the flash has been done. If the gears are not displayed and you have to hit the + again to display them, then the flash has not been done. Simple test.
