I hate to say this but I don't like it when my wife drives the truck. I came home from work a few years back and found that wifey decided to take the corvette out to have lunch with her friends. I walked into the garage and saw the front of the car wrapped around the lawn mower.
A few years before that we had a custom van and she closed the red release rope that disengages the garage door opener in the van's side door. As she was backing out she was closing the garage door as she went. It was not fun trying to dislodge a full size van from a double garage door.
And then there was the time..................... you get the point.
I absolutely hate when my wife drives one of "my" vehicles. I have a Jeep TJ for tooling around and everything is manual in it. It takes me about 10 minutes to adjust everything back to the way I like it.
i don't think i would order anything differently. i did consider roof lights in addition to the options i got at first but ultimately decided against it because even that little bit of additional height would prevent it from fitting in the garage without hitting.
have seen a few people mention that they wish they would have gotten a 350 instead of a 250. was wondering what the reason for this is? is there really that much difference between a SRW 250 short bed and a SRW 350 short bed?
I'm still looking into the options and have them all nailed down. After reading most of the posts here, most guys seem to be happy with the 3.31 or wish they had it. My question is that when I look at the dealer stock for a F350 SRW most seem to have 3.55 FX4. Is there reasoning behind it or is the 3.31 only recommended in certain sizes/trims?
You can't get the 20" wheels with the 3.31 rear gear. I'm pretty sure you can get the rest of the wheels no matter what rear gear you get.
I will probably end up with the 3.55 rear gear because I like the 20" wheels. They fill up the wheel well more I think. That and they look better then the other wheels that Ford gives for an option. JMO

Agreed on the 20" wheels r very nice factory truck wheels and do fill up the wheel wells better. Can't believe at first I didn't want
the 20's

The 350 over the 250 was a no-brainer for me for the reasons I mentioned upthread about load capacity. The primary difference is at least 1000 lbs more payload in the 350. The 350 has a stiffer ride than the 250, as one should expect.
My 350 SC SB SRW is 11,400 GVWR. Unladen weight is about 7500 lbs with the topper on, so right around 3900 lbs load capacity. That's consistent with Ford's payload rating of 4170 lbs per the catalog specs, not counting the topper. I don't know what the 2011 250 load ratings are, but they have to be lower than the 350 SRW by 1000 lbs or more.
Calculating based on the tire code numbers for the sidewall profile vs the tread width (275/70R18 vs 275/65R20), the 20s should be about 3" greater in diameter than the 18s. That would make a difference of 1-1/2" in overall height of the truck.
Tire replacement cost (which some have mentioned as a consideration between the 18s and the 20s) is $35 to $45 more per tire for the 20s compared to the 18s (that based on checking prices at only one discount tire source for Goodyear and Continental).
I went with the 18s because I can fit the 350 in the garage with those (barely), and I'm willing to bet I wouldn't be able to with the 20s.
I didn't know you could order just the step and not the handle. Gonna have to look into that, and I'm willing to buy a flat panel for the tailgate if that's all it takes to fix the bump.
I don't know if you can order just the step but I do know all it takes to fix the bump is to get a flat panel because I did it. And then Line-X over that. That's what I call the flag pole delete mod
I like the options that came on my XLT, some of them I could have done without though.
Love the Message/Information center, SYNC is nice, I have the door pad (could come in handy someday if I lock myself out), really like the cable lock in the bed.
Things I could have done without include, FX4 package, adjustable foot pedals, the key pad. I would have rather had the backup camera ( I will have to do an after market backup camera).
Overall, I am happy with what I got for the price, of course I would have loved the nav package, but I would have spent another 5 or 6 thousand for a Lariat (at least)...not worth it to me. I got the 6.7L Diesel and that was the main objective!!!
I see your RV trailer in the photo, what mileage do you get towing it?
Thanks
I can't speak for weidsworld, but I can say that I get anywhere from 10.5-12 mpg towing my 12000# 5th wheel on the highways. It seems to be getting better with mileage, as well... I just wish I had the 350 springs to keep my saggy rear in check . On the last trip with the camper, I was getting lots of high-beam flashes from oncoming traffic.

man Im sorry but adjustable foot pedals are about the best option out there. Ill never buy another truck with out them.
that said Im short so it really helps me alot.

Dj1208, I get between 11 - 12 mpg with a couple 4 wheelers in it and empty (around 6,800 lbs) I get between 12.5 and 13.5.
I traded a Toyota Tundra in for the F-250. The Tundra got 8.5 when the trailer was empty and struggled to pull it. It's a night and day difference with the diesel.
