Scangauge II

I just picked up my scan gauge ii. I can't seem to find the gauge for oil temperature. I have water temp and air temp which are at 195 and 91 respectively. I mainly bought the gauge to monitor my eot vs. ect. Did I buy the wrong gauge?

it also doesn't register anything for fuel pressure - that gauge just stays blank. also, isn't suppose to have a boost gauge? it has a map but thats not boost.

I don't have a ScanGauge, so I can't help you with most of the particulars, but there is one thing that I can help you with.

There is no way to be able to pull Fuel PSI from our truck's computers, because there is no PID reading for it. You are going to have to setup an analog gauge or get an OBD-II gauge that has an expansion slot for fuel psi(like some do for EGTs).

nevermind. i found a pdf containing programming options for the ford 6.0L. the gauge really won't read fuel psi, though? if not, whats the best gauge to buy to monitor fuel psi?

Not for our trucks no. It's not a problem with the ScanGauge, that's an issue for anything that gets it's information strictly(or for the most part) from the OBD-II connection.

I use AutoMeter. Really it would be best to stick with a brand that is known. Some use off-brands and have had good service from them, others have not. I figure it's worth the placebo to get one that is known and pay a little more, but that's me.

The MAP is the "boost" gauge. MAP stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure. Subtract atmospheric pressure from the MAP reading to obtain boost; the quick/dirty method is to knock 15 off the MAP number. Atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi at sea level. It reduces as altitude increases, so the -15 idea starts losing true accuracy as you go up in the mountains. However, IMHO, if you're sufficiently OCD to worry about 0.25 psi of boost, you're probably not gonna be looking at a ScanGauge.

I have gauge codes from Linear Logic for VGT Duty Cycle and throttle commanded if anyone's interested (what was that I said about OCD?!? Heeheehee)

RXD: 3010
MTH: 00647FFF0000
NAM: VGT

Throttle Position Commanded (Degrees)
TXD: 07E022091A
RXF: 04620509061A
