I had found this item on ebay and won it. The glass man couldn't get it on the rubber today. He said it was the aftermarket rubber. I also tryed and another guy tryed. It wouldn't go oN!!!!! There is nothing wrong with the trim [IT IN PERFECT SHAPE]. I had a seal for without the chorme So thats the way i went. If anyone needs this email me at dale.kent23@yahoo.com
There are two different rubber seals for the '51-52, one with an extra grove for the stainless and one without. The stainless is a bugger to get in. I have it on my '49 F-2 and I've installed it a couple of times. If you have a shop manual they have instructions but they aren't much help. The way I installed the trim is to install about 3/4 of the strip, top and sides and leave the bottom where they join hang loose until I had the windshield installed then I played with two loose ends inserting them into the grove with a nylon windshield tool.
We couldn't get but maybe a foot started then it would pull out. I got the rubber with the trim from a guy on ebay. I don't know were he got that rubber BUT it wouldn't work. The glass guy was charging me extra for the trim and he waited till late in the day to even get there. I was out of time money and was just plan mad after afew hours. I am putting a fulton visor on it anyway. That kind of covers the trim up anyway. Plus the plan black rubber looks good next to the yellow paint. I TRYED . Guess i got something to sell for x'mas money. lol
If you can I'd hang on to that trim piece for a while. Right now prices on down on them, at least on on eBay. The last one I saw on there sold for around $100, a while back they were bringing $200+. I got lucky, I have three, one for each of my trucks. First one I got with a bunch of parts, doors, hood and boxes of parts, for $100. The next one for $45 and the last one for $10 at a swap meet. The seller had a rusty old cab but the trim was perfect, I asked "How much?" and he said, "$10". I had my knife out and cut it out within two minutes.
Ya bob your right. I was thinking about getting another rubber and sitting down and working on it and if it works out it ain't to much trouble too pop the glass out and my 51 5 star cab will look right. Man the smoke colored glass looks great next to the yellow paint job. Glass makes a big diff.
Those trim pieces will go on the right rubber seal. Sounds like the glass guy needed to show up earlier and focus on getting the job done rather than getting home for supper!

You might try a new seal????!!!????
Maybe a new installer also. It really takes two people to put the glass in even without the trim.
Ditto on what Julie and Bob said. Try again. The cab will look a lot better with the trim. Plus, you already have the trim. If you sell it, you'll probably kick yourself later for not installing it.
