I wouldn't use the gasser transmission anyway, since you already have a proper transmission in the C70. They're almost certain to be geared differently, as would be the diff. Ford used plenty of 3208s & 1160s, and you should be able to find whatever you need to swap running gear if that's the direction you want to go..
I was just asking if it would bolt up because I knew Ford had offered the 3208 as an option and I wasn't sure what trans they offered behind it.. this is the first medium duty truck I have fooled with I've restored several B61s and several cab over freightliners (which are my favorite trucks).. The medium duty is a pain to find parts for because it has all kind of parts from a HD truck to parts from a 1/2 ton..Nothing seems to be universal.. I mean it has the pickup cab but has a different dash and gauge cluster than the reg pickup trucks.. Seems like they could have made it easier and just made all the cab parts universal since they used the same cab..The 391 was bought from ford with the Impco propane kit and I like the idea of the propane because you can eat off the inside of the engine but you cant always find a place to fill up..I also kind of scared of it in the case of a collision
Lots. Clarks, Spicers, Eaton/Fullers, etc., etc. They used many. Basically, there would be no difference between what is available on that GM, as what could be found in a Ford, except the vin number, and body. All the brakes, are Bendix, or Midland, all the axles are Eaton, Rockwell, etc., all the engines are Cat, Detroit, Cummins, etc., the trannies too....Eaton, Spicer, etc. Only on some, did they actually get brand specific drivetrain parts.
The dash in the 73-79 f500-f7000 is retained from the 67-72 pick-ups because of the way the heavy truck steering column mounts. The older style dash has more room for the floor mounted column, so its not hard to find parts for the body at all- you just have to know what fords to look at. You can even put in a dakota digital instrument cluster-they make them for the 67-72 pick-ups;therefore, they fit your dash.
