Pics of what I've been up to with the '65

Got the frame from the front to the rear of the cab cleaned up and also the underside of the cab. I used Eastwood's rust encapsulator and then sprayed it with John Deere Blitz Black today. I'm also installing Power Steering while I have everything torn apart. Put the reman'd power steering gear in before painting it today so it would get a fresh coat of paint.

Tomorrow I'm spraying the firewall Caribbean Turquoise and then will get the engine completely cleaned up and replace seals and gaskets. Hoping to get the engine and trans back in it next weekend.

Nice work. How hard is it to take fenders and front end off?

Thanks.

It is really easy. Pull the radiator plus 16 bolts and make sure all of the wires are disconnected and it comes right off.

Unfortnatly at work so I can't pull up your pic's; I also used the Blitz Black; on my current project; I did the body of my 64 with JD Blitz black; kept the inner fenders and fire-wall Rangoon red and same with the cab interior. Havn't try Blitz black on frame yet.

How did you prep and treat the steel frame before painting?

Six cans of engine degreaser and a pressure washer. Then, lots and lots of scraping, wire wheel, and then wiped it down with lots of rags and a gallon of Acetone. It was the most intense part of the project. I have my brother in law John to thank for most of it.
