Some here whine and complain about the amount of lag like it takes the turbo 10 minutes to light. It's MAYBE 3 or 4 tenths of a second even in a stock tune. In any other tune you will hardly notice it.

IMO the van turbo is a little small to be running on bigger sticks but opinions are like bumholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink. I plan on going to a 38r when I go to bigger than stock injectors. My truck on stock sticks spins my late 99 van turbo over just fine.

People make the lag out to be like the truck is un-driveable in stock tunes. I run my truck in stock more often than not and barely even notice any kind of lag. If you always run in a tune and go down to stock with it you'll feel like it's crazy laggy but really even if you drive in a tune all the time and step down to stock you'll feel like everything is laggy anyways.

I'm a huge believer in van turbos for the mildly done trucks. Anything with serious fuel delivery will want more air unless you like having a smokey truck but stage 1s or 2s should be fine on a van turbo as a daily driver/play truck.

Great info. Thanks. Ya, I am not trying to make 500hp or anything. Well at least not unless down the road I buy a new truck and this one becomes fun only. I'm glad to hear that it will push the stage 1's or 2's. I am planning on getting stage 2 single shots. You are right. Some people do make it sound like you have to wait forever for it to spool. But if it's 2 or 4 tenths of a second I'm not worried about it. Especially if it makes up for it in the top end. Think I'll be rolling coal with stage 2's and a van turbo?

It definitely will if you want it to. With the right tuning it will smoke like a train for that couple tenths of a second and then clear up to a light haze if you're really pushing it.

Street driving you shouldn't see much smoke at all unless you're trying to make it smoke or running a high tune.

Hey Joe. Where's the smoke? Even my 38r with 1.15 will smoke pretty good 'til it lights. Like Pete said, it's not like it takes minutes to spool up.

Gotcha. Well mine smokes If I punch it right now. A pretty good cloud. Thats in performance tune on stock sticks. I could only imagine how dark it would be if I threw on stage 2's right now with the stock E99 turbo.

LOL... Oh, okay... I think it's more than enough, and it doesn't clean up as much as it should, but I'm happy with the results: More power than I've seen so far from a van turbo, even though I know it's not enough air...
