1966 VIN# decode Information
I guess I need numbers help. I found the vin number on the frame and its not the same as my Door. The engine had been changed (that I knew about) to an 80's era 302 and I have replaced the transmission with a C4.
ND gave me the info on the previous number but here is the NEW INFO
F10AN768649 and the number off the block is EOAE D3C00 4B20
I know there are to many numbers for the block- but that's what's there.
Is there another location that can tell me what was the original engine/drive train?
I get F100 black Norfork in Oct 1965 Can I get more?

Your framerail VIN decodes as: F10 = F100 truck, 2 wheel drive, A = 240 cubic inch I-6, 1 bbl engine, N = Norfolk, VA assembly plant, 768649 = October, 1965 build date as a '66 year model truck. The rest of the information would have to come from the original, missing, Warranty Plate, or any tags attached to your differential or transmission, assuming that they are original, which you suspect they are not. E0AE is a 1980 or later engine. ND or someone else will have to give you the rest of that decode. Hope this helps some.

Thank you very much Bill that was quick, appreciate the info on this. Well I have had the truck about 8 years always had it parked down at the cabin for hauling fire wood and going out fishing using it around the old place always took care of it. I Have had a few cars on and off and never ran the vin numbers much on them. However last year I picked up a sweet little 67 2 Door coupe, the guy that sold it to me knew nothing on it he picked it up on a swap/trade I got curious so ran the vin # and turned out to be a 67 Acadian Canso, Had it documented and was 1 of 535 not a super rare car like the (SD) but sure well worth looking into Vin numbers before you go to far.
Thanks again Dave.
Thanks again Dave.
1965/74 240/300 share the same block, the bore is the same, the stroke is different.
240 was the standard equipment engine in 1965/74 F100/350 & 1965/71 Galaxie/LTD, 300 not installed in cars.
C5AE block casting number was used 1965/66 in cars/trucks.
240 cancelled at the end of the 1974 model run.
Acadian Canso-Canada, basically a US Chevy Nova with Chevy/Pontiac styling cues.

Thanks again, be great if it was the correct motor for some reason I thought it was the 240, I guess the only way be 100% is to measure the stroke.
Transmission tag is a HEG-Z {KO13365} again not sure if its original with the truck. Did not find the diff tag on the 9, 1 rib down 3 across, stamped C5AW 4668A all I got on it.
Another quick question I had on this particular headliner was it standard with custom cab, an option or just some aftermarket add on?
B81: B = Medium Blue Crush Vinyl & Medium Blue Cody Pattern Woven Plastic / 81 = 81B Custom Cab.

Thanks again, Dave

Headliner correct, as Custom Cabs/Rangers came with perforated headliners.
HEG-Z = Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual medium duty all syncromesh transmission = 1966 F100/250 300/352 w/129" wheelbase.
9" rear axle ID tag originally located at approx. 5 o'clock under one of the bolts that retains the carrier (aka pumpkin) to the housing.
By now, many are missing.

That's good, well my plans for this truck re build has taken a bit of a turn, the more info I get the better I feel keeping it on the originality side with just some minor modifications. I worked on a few chevys but I acquired 2 Ford trucks the other a 84 F150 4x4 S/B (Wild Rose Edition) it's a Alberta dealer package on it, but looking forward to get started on the 66 right away. Keep up the good work thanks.
