Hello, I'm new to the forum as I have just gotten my first truck, a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT with a V6. The issue I am having currently is that the right blinker and hazards are not working. I have checked the fuses which is not the problem as none are blown. All of the bulbs are also OK. I tested the right side bulbs by hooking them up to the functional left side and everything worked out. I thought that it might be the relay, but I am not 100% sure. I have taken the cover off the steering wheel i saw that there was a loose wire, but I am unable to figure out where it is to plug in. I have been able to find out that this wire does impact the blinker. When placed into the box the other wires are plugged into it turns on the right blinker, but the blinker switch does not turn it off when touching the lead to the box. At one point, after leaving the cover off for 8 hours and not attaching the wire anywhere the blinkers and hazards functioned correctly, when I attached the cover again I ran into my initial problem where only the left blinker functioned. I took the cover off and was unable to repeat this "success". I did accidentally blow the fuse for the blinkers when I touched the lead to the steering column, but that has since been replaced, leaving me with my initial problem of a loose wire and only having functional left side blinkers. Any help would be appreciated. I can add pictures later if that would be helpful. Thank you very much.
Try changing the electronic flasher relay, it is in a box to the right of the gas pedal way up under the dash, I disassembled almost the whole dash till I found the flasher. It is very hard to get to but it is possible. Here in Los Angeles, Pep Boys has them for $13. its more noisy now but works.
