New here but not new to this format, any way got a headlight problem with a 94 ranger, i have read all post on this and have replaced the dash switch and it worked for about a year and now it is doing the same thing, bright lights go out and then the dims will go.
Last time replaced the switch and the conector because the conector had signs of heat, it looks like to me that the wire is two small for the amps that the lights are drawing, the wire you can feal the heat when the lights are turned on, cant find a short any where, i am stumped on what to do outher than rewire the whole thing with biger wire and bypaass the light switch with an after market switch.
Any ideas at all or has any one been trough this ?
Welcome to FTE. This is a great site to get good help about all things Ranger.
Go to LMCtruck.com and search for their heavy duty headlight harness. While I didn't have the headlight switch problem you have, my lights are much brighter now with the harness installed.
The harness uses the switch to activate relays that carry power directly from the battery to the headlights, avoiding the heavy current load going through the headlight switch.
Thanks again, went to the site and that is just what I need and not a bad price either, one head ake over, now if i can just find the vibration in the truck, lol, do that another day, fist things first.
i love these owners sites, work on old bikes all so, without the internet dont know what i would do.
ye ha !!!!
Got the harness, turned out that LMC truck was here local and pick it up today, got one problem, i cant find the head light harnes plug, got any idea where it is on the truck ?
Never mind i think i got it figured out, you unplug the left head light and that is the head light harnes plug, da, lol
